Hey there! I have been MIA for a while on the blogfront. The holidays kept me busy and then life just got in the way. A very special little sweetie helped get me out hiding… my precious baby girl turned 2!
Here are some pictures of Miss Tilly’s 2nd Birthday! We ddin’t have a big party, but instead she invited her cousins and a couple of her best little friends over for a rainbow themed play date. The theme is totally fitting for Tilly because she has brought so much color and magic into our lives!
We served a colorful assortment of yummy goodies. There was rainbow chocolate cupcakes, marshmallow pops dipped in white chocolate with rainbow sprinkles, a rainbow jello mold, rainbow jello cookies, rainbow goldfish, lots of candy (skittles, twizzlers & M&Ms in apocothary jars) a rainbow fruit spread and their choice of PB&J or ham & cheese sandwich. I found the printables for the water bottles here at Printabelle.
I was extremely happy with how the cake turned out. I was a little scared at first (in the past I have made triple layer cakes only to have them break right down the middle) but it was beautiful! The cake looked great and tasted great too. The secret is vanilla yogurt… it added a great flavor while keeping the cake super moist. Here is the recipe.
Here is my birthday girl, waiting patiently for her candles to be lit. And then blowing them out. Too precious for words! xoxo
For the backdrop on my party table I hung a white table-cloth and cut out hearts with my Silhouette Cameo and taped them on ribbon for streamers underneath tissue paper pom poms. So cute! There were some left over heart cuts, so I scattered them around the food and favor tables. For the favors, I made little boxes out of cardstock and filled with M&Ms. I created a little Thank You tag and tied it all shut with a rainbow star ribbon. I let each kid pick out their own coloring book and play doh from a basket to go along with their own personalized box of crayons.
For Christmas my honey gave me a Silhouette Cameo, which I LOVE so much! I am still learning things and there are soooo many accessories that I want (hint-hint any starter kit @ Silhouette America website!). Thanks to my Cameo, I was able to make all these cute favors for the kids. I got started on the party planning late, but if I had more time I would have gone completely crazy with it all!
This is one of my favorite pictures, it is Tilly giving her cousin a hug. Pure bliss on that sweet face. These are the moments that make it all worthwhile!
Happy Birthday, Tilly! xoxo

Love the decorations! I’m doing a rainbow party this weekend. I plan on making the rainbow cupcakes. I’m wondering how deep the rainbow ends need to be into the icing? Do you have any tips on making the rainbow?
The rainbow cupcakes were super easy to make. I made then with the Extreme sour gummy strips. I cut them to be about 3 inches then stuck them into the icing. I piped some more icing around them for clouds and it secured them in place. Share your party pics, I would love to see them!
Thank you for your reply! Did you make the the day before or the day of…wondering if the candy would “harden” over night
I made the cupcakes the night before and then iced and decorated them the morning of the party. But, now that I think of it we had some left over and were eating them over the next couple of days, and the candy was fine after being left out. So I think you should be ok if you prepare them the day before.
